Do Adblockers Really Cause A Hit To Revenue? Will They In The Future?

My blog has now move to http://www.tiglo.co.uk/. This post can now be found at http://www.tiglo.co.uk/technology/adsense/Do-Adblockers-Really-Cause-A-Hit-To-Revenue.html.

Snippet: "On a forum I frequent, there has been a.. "reactionary thread" is one way to put it... about adblocking plugins and extensions for browsers.

"By reactionary I mean that people have been over-reacting to something that is a non-issue. I will attempt to explain why it is a non-issue, what the real problem is and what can be done about it."

Censorship On Junk Food On TV - Taking It Too Far?

My blog has now move to http://www.tiglo.co.uk/. This post can now be found at http://www.tiglo.co.uk/economy-politics/Censoring-Junk-Food-On-TV...

Snippet: "Every morning on my way to work I keep myself entertained by reading the metro newspaper (or sometimes BBC News' mobile edition from my phone). It is, from my point of view, the best free newspaper and I always feel happy if I manage to find a copy still available at the metro station, on the metro or bus. :)"

Chelsea Don't Care If You Hate Them

My blog has now move to http://www.tiglo.co.uk/. This post can now be found at http://www.tiglo.co.uk/football/Chelsea-Dont-Care-If-You-Hate-Them.html.

Snippet: "I meant to write again about Chelsea a lot sooner, but most of what's been written in my favourite paper, metro, hasn't been at the forefront of my mind of late."

Public Services Strike in the UK

My blog has now move to http://www.tiglo.co.uk/. This post can now be found at http://www.tiglo.co.uk/economy-politics/Public-Services-Strike-In-The-UK.html.

Snippet: "Getting to work today was a nightmare due to the strike [1]. I have to be honest that while empaphise with the low income (and therefore low pension) people who are striking, everytime time there are public-services strikes it's not the government suffering but the people trying to get to work. Instead of the usual hour's journey to work (which is already long enough) it took over an hour just to get into the city centre (by bus), and that's by no means the end of my journey to work (normally getting to the city centre by metro takes 20 minutes)."

Snippet: "Most people have heard of dmoz, the so-called Open Directory Project, for reasons both good and bad.

Regardless of people's personal feelings, it can't be denied that dmoz is a very large directory and also a 'complete free' directory."

Poem: It was one of those days...

Snippet: "... that you wish you'd slept through.
... had just never happened.
... that you wish will never happen again.
... that just plain sucks!"

The Sickness That Is UK Water Companies

Snippet: "An example of companies putting profit before all else: South East England is apparently going through its driest spell since 1933. However, it's far easier to apply for drought orders so that the public are restricted on water usage than to fix the leaks (these 3 companies combined are leaking 145million litres of water every day)! An even further kick in the face is that water bills are going to be increased."

UK National Minimum Wage Increase

Snippet: "n October 2006, the UK's national minimum wage is set to increase by 6% and unsurprisingly companies are complaining yet again about it.

These companies, though, need to consider where they would be:

  • Without employees

  • Without customers who can afford their products

The UK is an expensive country to live in, at times, and not because of the national minimum wage, but because companies are out to get maximum profit possible."

A flashback to the 1990s...

Snippet: ".. of screaming tenage girls, often referred to as 'teenieboppers', going crazy over boybands. It really wasn't a pleasant flashback ... the last thing I want to remember is the (terrible) music produced by the endless number of manufactured bands that were around then (and I guess some still are today)."

Jose Mourinho & Chelsea

Snippet: "On my way to work today, I read an interesting story in the Metro newspaper about Chelsea FC manager, Jose Mourinho.

Following Chelsea's defeat to Fulham, he is quoted as saying, 'There are 19 managers and clubs, plus one,' in reaction to a referee's decision to disallow a handball."

Pop-up/-under adverts...

Snippet: "There's nothing more annoying when visiting a website than being spammed by lots of pop-ups/-unders advertising useless junk. Haven't advertisers yet realised how annoying these are? Isn't the fact that most browsers have built-in pop-up/-under blockers a hint that people don't like this kind of advertising?"

An essay on Oedipus...

My blog has now move to http://www.tiglo.co.uk/. This post can now be found at http://www.tiglo.co.uk/literature/An-Essay-On-Oedipus.html.

Snippet: "Whether this is really an assignment someone handed in, or just a joke, I do not know. However, regardless of that, the essay is very funny and at the same time clever. :)"

Who am I?

Snippet: "Well, if you hadn't guessed... I'm Paul! And I have blue eyes. OK, now we've got past the obvious ...:

I'm just a regular guy and finally decided to motivate my lazy self into making a blog. I did make a blog on msn's spaces but ... to keep this blog 'clean' I'll say no more about msn. ;-)"
